Are you the Group Class Type?

Group classes work best for:

Those with plenty of time and desire to work with your dog – Learning how your dog thinks about stuff, learns and communicates back to you is one thing. Build a relationship where your dog will choose you – for a lifetime.

Friendly or neutral toward other dogs and people – They don’t need to be outgoing—calm or mildly shy dogs are welcome—but they should not pose a safety concern.

Basic control in new environments – Able to remain on leash with you and settle enough to learn.

Up to date on required vaccinations – We require proof of core vaccines including Rabies (as age-appropriate), Distemper/Parvo (DHPP), and Bordetella.

Healthy and free of contagious illness – Dogs with coughing, vomiting, diarrhea, or visible signs of parasites (Giardia) must stay home until cleared by a veterinarian.

Able to focus with mild distractions- Perfection isn’t expected—beginners often struggle—but the dog should be manageable enough that you can participate safely.

Who May be Excluded or Deferred to Private Training

Some dogs are not appropriate for a group setting. So, for their own well-being and the safety of others you may be directed to our privates first. These include:

❌ Dogs or owners in pain, weakness or with mobility issues – These dogs or their owners may struggle to participate in exercises and may require modified instruction best handled in private lessons.

❌ Aggressive dogs – Any dog with a history of biting, growling, lunging, or snapping at other dogs or people may need private training or behavior modification before joining a group.

❌ Highly reactive dogs – Dogs who bark, scream, lunge, or cannot settle around other dogs often become overwhelmed in a group environment. This can worsen their behavior and disrupt class. Reach out for Private Lessons as your first step!

❌ Extremely fearful or shutdown dogs – Terrified dogs cannot learn effectively in group settings. Private lessons help build confidence in a controlled environment.

If you’re unsure whether you or your dog are a good fit, reach out before class—we are happy to help you choose the safest and most successful option.
