Background
Born and raised in Los Angeles, Jennifer comes from a celebrity background. She is the daughter of Johnny Mann (of the Johnny Mann Singers) and Lori Nelson (1950’s starlet of the big screen).
As early as age two, Jennifer turned to horses and dogs.
‘I had to be so grown up at such a young age, it was a relief to be around the animals where we just understood each other without even having to talk’ she says.
‘Jennifer was always bringing home stray dogs’ says her mom, ‘and before you knew it, they would be doing circus tricks in the living room!’
It was then she learned of her instinct for communicating with dogs.
Jennifers mission became saving dogs from homelessness and overpopulation with spay and neuter campaigns as early as elementary school, volunteering at animal shelters, and helping neighbors with their dogs behavior problems.
Since then, Jennifer has acquired an extensive toolbox of training experience.
And working with abandoned or homeless dogs has often presented it’s own set of challenges where her ability to remain creative and flexible was born.
Jennifer has spent years implementing not just one method, but various training disciplines and programs, including the Day School program developed by The Olde Towne School for Dogs in Alexandria, Virginia (40 year track record), and ongoing educational and certification courses. Because no two dogs or families are the same, this blending resulted in the creation of the official “Mann’s Best” method, programs and principles.
Jennifer also regularly trains others to become professional dog trainers.
Jennifer has trained in the Washington D.C. metro area spending time with Congressional and Military family dogs and the Obama’s dog Bo! Jennifer also trained a German Shepherd in Japanese. In 2012, She established L.A. School for Dogs in Westlake Village, California, where there is a two month wait for her “Mann’s Best” dog training programs year round. The Proven 3-Week Program regularly generates groundbreaking results and lots of happy customers.
In 2018 Jennifer was published in VoyageLA!
